Plant and Animals Welfare Society (PAWS)

Many years back, local stray animals in suburbs of Mumbai were in poorest of poor condition, die on the roadside of maggot-wounds & starvation.

But on 11th January 2001, some youngsters made the decision to put their feet down and voice the distress of the animals, so they created PAWS, the Plant & Animals Welfare Society that started with a vision.

Ever since then, there has been no looking back.

Local municipal corporations has stopped stray dogs killings, but has done little to assist in the campaign to sterilize them. PAWS volunteers have done excellent job of it: Picking up strays, getting them into ambulance, taking them to Mumbai hospices to sterilize and vaccinate them and releasing them into their respective area.

In October 2001, PAWS received its first ambulance as donation from Mr. Anil Kataria of Ahmadnagar SPCA, only on the basis of the hard and genuine work that members of the organization are putting in.

Our Activities:-
Ambulance Service : PAWS responds to public calls to help sick & injured stray animals. PAWS ambulance covers 3 districts like Mumbai, Thane & Raigad. Ambulance service is available on Sundays also with a nominal cost.

Sterilizations & Vaccinations: PAWS catches stray dogs & cats from different cities in Thane district and get them sterilized at Bombay’s hospital, then they release from where they are picked-up. PAWS also vaccinates against rabies to all the animals, which are sterilized. PAWS also represent on (Animal Birth Control) committee at Municipal Corporation.
