Everyone knows about the
differences between humans, even within any given family. There is not
only quarrelling amongst the youngsters but often enough deepening
generation-gaps can bring about serious conflicts. Considering that
already this smallest of all communities is prone to arguments and
disputes: how do we feel about people living on the other side of the
street or in the next town, the neighbouring country, members of another
culture or religion and/or those at the other side of the globe?
In this context it is to be said that the members of animal_net could not
be more different as far as nationality, language, culture, religion and
even appearances are concerned. But we do not consider this a problem,
just the opposite. All this diversity is understood as an appreciated
basis for enrichment, widening of horizons and internetting and by that
contributing to a slowly but surely growing wave of solidarity because
after all, today we have the privilege of living in an era when more and
more people are awakening to the mind-boggling suffering of animals.
In order to best grab this chance offered by the present, we are
cooperating in a relaxed community of friends and partners right across
national, linguistic and cultural borders. We are all equals and our
animal_net has neither a set structure nor a board of directors or any
established programme except the understanding of “Give and Take”.
We are helping one another in our respective work-programmes by telling
about them, explaining new projects or petitions whilst at the same time
receiving the other members’ news which are screened and, if deemed
interesting in our national environment, translated and distributed in our
own channels and mail-systems.
Needless to say that by coordinating animal-work, also human contacts and
subsequent friendships and action-groups right across the globe are
created. Apart from this “human touch”, the discovery of partners working
on the same problem in another part of the world can be extremely helpful
in achieving results. In this context it should be mentioned that although
the members of animal_net are dealing with a large variety of topics, the
aim is identical: the well-being of animals. All our activities have
different ways of striving for improvements whereby only the sky is the
limit and one sole basic rule: Ahimsa/non-violence.
This website was created mainly in the interest of informing also
non-members about our work, latest developments, emerging trends and
threats to individual animals or the survival of species. We have the
intention to deliver daily news by screening the international press; this
news-scheme will be available to anyone who shares our goal which is to
ensure that all animals may enjoy their established right to a life in
dignity.
We are quite aware that it will take oceans of determination, perseverance
and patience to achieve fundamental changes but we are prepared to
participate to the best of our abilities in the emerging great link of
solidarity.
